Notepad - Simple TXT Editor App Reviews

Became unsuable very recently

I can get the app up and running but I can’t see what I type in or pasted in. Bring up the Font Manager also does not help at all. Tried deleting the app & settings and reinstalled it but no change. Any one else having the issue? Posting it here since the link to support, e.g., http://notepad.kupon.bg, does not go any where. I liked the app a lot but that was when it was working.

doesn’t include "services"

I originally had this app on my computer and then my computer crashed. Now I have to pay for it. The only purpose I need this app for is the “Services” option when I right click highlighted text. It no longer does that. I no longer need the app. I would like my $0.99 back.

Simple and Userful

I like this text editor tool.

love this app, Quick n easy

Very simple and quick , Thank you A+++++

Not Uptodate to Current Mac Version

Can not turn off options, eg. Check Spelling as you type. Check mark not showing in those options, but you can click it. Next time, it’s active again.

Supports Text files Created in Windows is Technically correct but misleading in my view

There is a problem when you create a text file in this app, save it and then open it in windows notepad, and that problem is that the Carriage Returns (New Lines) have been removed. To my recollection windows notepad products that are opened and changed in this app do not suffer the same problem. But at any rate, I was essentially looking for a product that would simple open and manage text files in a seamless and problem free way. So I see this CR/LF issue as a bug that probably needs resolution. After which point, I’d be happy to give the product five stars as this is the only problem I’ve found with it after months of usage. Thanks

Notepad

This app does not have a “save as” option. It only have a “save” option. I needed to save a file as .html but the app did not have the option to “save as.” Can you fix it so this app will have a “save as” file for the option to save files as .html, pdf, doc. and more

a problem

I lost a short story I wrote after I highlighted it and hit copy. It just went away! I was unable to get it back even though I had hit save. Too frustrated for words.

Doesnt Save

Worked alright now it wont let me save doccuments

Great and simple

Thanks for a great and simple app!

Fast and to the point

Perfect for a light wieght notepad app. Exactly what I was looking for.

Exactly what I needed

Quick!

Need CR + LF for Windows Compatibility

Would be perfect if there was an option to have New Lines as Carriage Return + Line Feed. This would allow me to have Text Files my Colleagues running Windows could view. Add that and I would have something I could use.

Drag and drop

Simplicity is perfect. If I drag a file into the window I would like it to open the file for editing, similar to Notepad on Windows.

Simple and perfect

Exactly what I wanted, an alternative to textedit that allows me to save notes wherever I want them, rather than from a useless "recent" list. Also, no lagging when saving. Just a simple notepad.

perfect, but

exactly what is needed for simple, quick, and efficient use. but needs a save-as option...

Simple means perfect

You want to write it down something quick and simple? this app is the one. Thanks!

Works for me

I needed a simple text editing program for a particular purpose - writing html code. This used to be relatively easy with the other programs, but the latest inclinations of Apple to "nanny" the user experience have actually made it more cumbersome or impossible to accomplish. This app allows me to open, edit, and save a .htm document without error, just like I wanted. THANK YOU!

Buggy

I am trying to use this app for a web page development class I'm taking. It will allow me to save the doc initially as xxxx.html then it won't allow me to edit because I don't have permissions…what???? I've done everything to give myself permission (rolling eyes) but it still isn't working. SO FRUSTRATING.

ONLY supports text files, does not support rich text format.

I almost found the app for my daily writing. It offers the user the option to change the font to his or her choosing, but it lacks support for rich text files, full screen support or changing the character count at the bottom to the word count. I'm hoping this could be offered in a future version, which I would gladly pay for.

Open non .txt files

I love this app, actually I prefer it over TextEdit since iCloud integration, but it needs to be able to open any file like (.log .plist .html and so on) to be a complete replacement of TextEdit. The feature that everyone is suggesting of disabling the “do you want to save…” dialog, i believe it should be an on/off toggle, some might need it.

Simple can be better

I love this notepad because it's simple. Sure there are other beefier notepads and text editors our there but I don't need all those bells and whistles. Notepad is everything I need and perfect for my uses.

Cannot handle large files

It is indeed simple and easy to use. The only probem is that it crashes when trying to edit and save a large txt file ( > 7 mb).

Just what I wanted: SIMPLE TEXT EDITOR!

I do a lot of cutting and pasting of text, and your app has made it so simple by just giving me the text without any formatting. I don't need any special functionality, just the basic text. I want to thank you for making my job less frustrating!

It's very nice

I don't know why I like it, but it's definitely better than TextEdit in ways difficult to put down. I wish there was an option to not ask to save when closing because that's the reason I was looking for another editor in the first place, the save dialogs are slow in mac os x, and I also second the request that someone else had to have an option to remove the word count at the bottom. If you're just looking to paste text, you know TextEdit has a plain text mode you can enable in the preferences. I still think this app is better however. I don't need any of that Rich Text stuff. I also tried ByWord which is nice if you like MarkDown, but for plain text, this app is it.

One problem!

This application cannot print!! What a joke! This is a great little text editor, I love the word count at the bottom but it can't print! That's the only reason this is 3 starts and not 5 stars. It works great for what it is, a simple text editor, but come one - No Printing ability?!

just what I needed

This is just like text edit but doesn't translate html Nice and simple

Just what I need

I've been looking for "this" program ever since I turned "Mac". Awesome! Apple ruined their text editor with bells and whistles that made it nearly impossible to reliably edit text files and HTML without fouling it up or taking forever to figure a way around all the "foo-foo". I've used Tincta, Bean, TExt Wrangler, etc, etc. Nothing compared to this for text editing. Thank you,Kupon.

Almost Brilliant

Works exactly like the Windows equivalent :D . However, I'd like to see one thing introduced: First, the option to remove the word count bar at the bottom. And... that's it.

Finally found it!

I've switched to Mac from Windows, and have been looking for a basic text editor that strips out all formating when copying text from web pages, and can be used to quickly edit javascript and html files. This does exactly that - just like the trusty Windows notepad. Goodbye Windows… forever!

Very useful and simple!

I downloaded this excelent free app in look a of a simple application where I can jot down any idea's I get. And that is exactly what I got! This is an ideal app for anyone who has lot's of ideas and easily forgets them when working on other things. Now I never have to worry about forgetting my idea's because they are all in this neat little application. The look and feel of the application is very reminiscent of TextEdit, one minor differnce that make's this application much better is the feel and look of the text, it just looks a whole lot smoother and you aren't given any options to change the look. Which I think is great, I can just open the application and start writing down my notes. The application uses the .txt format so pretty much and text reading application will recognize it. This is very convinient when I want to transfer my files over to my PC I can still open my notes on any application I have on my PC. So overall it's a great application and I would highly recommend to anybody who want's to write down their ideas.

Perfect

What is there to say? It does exactly what it says on the box! A simple notepad app. Just like its Windows equivalent - great for people (like me!) who've seen the light and switched to Mac. Nice thing is, it automatically saves new notes with the .txt extension so if you're saving to your Dropbox folder for example you don't have to worry about other programs not understanding it.
